Our vacation in Hawaii was a blast. This was by far our best trip so far. We stayed 6 days on the island of Oahu and the remaining part of the trip on Maui.

I finally had the time to process, sort and post the first part of the pictures from Oahu. Follow this link to navigate directly to the album for Oahu.

Here is a picture of our first sunrise view from the beach in front of our condo. We also had a visit that morning…

We really enjoyed driving on the North Shore. Sunset Beach was probably our favorite beach on Oahu. We were in the low season, so the beaches were almost empty. It was simply awesome. We also saw some great surfing there.

We took a private lesson of surfing for 2.5 hours. We took so many waves that we could not paddle back to our teacher at the end: our arms were giving up! This was really fun.

Corinne and I also had the opportunity of doing some snorkeling at Hanauma Bay. We almost had a better experience snorkeling at Sharks Cove on the North Shore. There were less people and the conditions were much better when we went. The water was crystal clear.

We took the hike on the Diamond Head Crater, which offered a nice view over Waikiki and Honolulu.

Many more pictures are available in the photo album below. I still have to process the pictures from our time on Maui. I hope to be able to post them soon.

Enjoy!

Panoramas

Sorry about the lack of posts in the recent weeks! I am just back of a 3 weeks trip to Germany for work. I was planning to update the site during my trip but I simply had no time.

I have added an album in the Gallery of Panoramic pictures. Panoramic views are created by stitching (joining) several exposures together. The very wide aspect of this type of pictures help to get a better feeling of the greatness of some landscape scenes.

Use the link below to navigate to the album. A larger picture will be available every time you click on a Panorama up to a 5000 pixels wide version. A zoomify mode is also available (see below) .

ZOOMIFY MODE

Under most Panoramas, there is a link offering to view the Pano in “Zoomify” mode. Zoomify allows to view and zoom in the panoramas in high resolution over the internet. The zoomify controls can be used as follows:

A - The “+” and “-” buttons are used to zoom in and out of the image. This is however a bit too sensitive.. See “C” for better control;

B- Arrows are used to move inside the image. Alternatively, it is possible to simply click and drag within the image with the mouse. Also, dragging the red rectangle in the navigator window (top left of image) will make the image move.

C- Clicking and dragging the triangle sideways will offer greater control over the zoom factor.

D- Clicking this button resets the image to its original state.

Try this link to a Panorama of Detroit city view from Windsor to give it a try.
