Here’s some triathlon humor for you. In Multisport, you always hear how your training should be ’specific’. Example of specific training habits are:

  • Eat and drink in training what you will eat and drink in racing
  • If you prepare for a race in hilly terrain, then train on hilly terrain
  • If you train for morning races, then training in the morning at about the same time would be beneficial
  • If you train for triathlons, then brick workouts (biking right after swimming, or running right after biking) are absolute musts!
  • etc…

The following video takes it to a new level… Here’s a guy preparing for the beating of an Ironman swim :)

Corinne and Newton have been immortalized on Google Maps / Street View. Corinne was walking the dog in the neighborhood when the google car passed in the area. She’s was caught twice! Here are the screen shots and direct links to Google Street View.

For the links to Google Street View, you have to be patient and wait a little bit before the view goes from “satellite” to Street View”

At home, I am known to forget about wish cards, or simply not putting enough effort into cards. I think that for this Valentine’s Day, I redeemed myself for all the previous times. I passed hours coming up with a card I made myself, based on a collage of photos of happy moments passed together. The card is also huge, printed on 13″x19″ photo paper folded in 2. Here is the front of the card:

I also put a lot of details on the back of the card:

One may find the numbers from the barcode pretty spooky… Bigger versions (up to 1000 pixels) of these are available here.

For the front of the card, I used a small program called “Shape Collage“. With this program, you can make very interesting collages of any shapes with only a few mouse clicks. Here is a video tutorial which is also a great way to see what can be done with it:

Just thought this one was too funny too pass.. All the random stuff we can find on the net… no more comments: an image is worth a 1000 words.

Greetings from France! I am in the Paris area for work and I will be on the road for a while. So it will take some time before I can get back home, process pictures and post them.

In the mean time, here is a link for other dog lovers!

I sporadically follow the discussions on a photography forum, and they recently a “photo challenge” section where people can start challenges by topic. People then vote for the best ones.

One of the recent challenge was titled: “Lazy Dogs”. Some of the pictures are simply awesome! If you have a minute, it is worth browsing. Here is the link:

Congratulations to the winners! It was fun to participate and get early access to the show. I may make that a yearly appointment.

I have a bunch of stuff to post, but time is missing. In the meantime, here is something interesting on the net: some of the best news photographs from 2008.

You may want to skip the black ones with warnings for graphic content. Otherwise, there are several awesome inspiring pictures in the lot!

Sorry about the 1 month period without updates. I have been travelling quite a bit for work in the last few weeks. I have material almost ready to post, so be sure to come back before the end of the month.

Meanwhile, I am starting a new category of posts for internet sites that I find interesting. The first mention goes to Photofunia.com. The site offers about 60 effects that you can apply to a portrait of your choice. Some of the effects are quite interesting as seen below.

The 2 step process is extremely simple: 1- Select the effect; 2- upload one of your picture. The image must be less than 500kb in size. The resulting image is provided very quickly. Here is the link below for you to try!
